I think the foundation should work the same, how you recruit and that you dont have control over how they look and that they have their own manpower pool. I think it has potential to be really good but it needs tweaking. And maybe also they come with a higher chance of triggering the mercenary looting the city event. Maybe even a combat penalty so you're not tempted to fight with them. I'd also love late game siege mercs - small stack mercs with cannons and siege ability. If they just had a little more flexibility when it come to composition and splitting, it would work perfectly. ![]() ![]() Paradox, to its credit, did a decent job of making mercs something you use early game and phase out by late game, much like real life merc armies that they were trying to copy. Mostly early game when manpower pools are too small and the generals and combat ability on certain merc companies makes them better than your normal troops.
